Wansbeck Wizard Cafe is now open

Students of our Primary Partner school ‘Wansbeck Primary’ have recently opened a fantastic cafe called Wizard Cafe.  Molly Cook and Tom Williams both year 6 pupils came up with the idea after trying to think of ways how they could help raise money to buy new sports equipment for the school.  The thought a cafe would help raise money for the school but also give parents the chance to catch-up and have a quick coffee and a bun before picking up their child.

The two brave students approached the Headteacher for a small amount of money to help setup the little business venture.  The Headteacher asked the students to prepare a business plan and show how they would spend the money and also how they would repay the money.  The students presented their business plan in a dragons den style presentation and pitched to 3 decision makers including the Headteacher and Chair of Governors.  They were amazed at the standard of the presentation and the confidence of the students and made no hesitation in awarding the full amount the students asked for.

The students have also been very lucky to be well supported by the local community in their business venture as local shop owners have kindly donated a till for them.

Wizard cafe will open to the parents of Wansbeck Primary school children Monday to Friday 3.00-3.30 and will sell hot drinks for just 40p and cold drinks for just 20p.  They will also sell buns for 20p and have special offers such as a bun and hot drink for 50p or a bun and cold drink for 30p.

We are really proud of the Wansbeck students involved in setting up their little business and wish them all the very best of luck.
