Hair Dressing
The Young Apprenticeship programme combines classroom and workshop experience with an extended work placement element to complement the qualification.
This programme is designed to enable students to acquire the basic knowledge and techniques of Hairdressing and have ‘hands-on’ work experience.
Students will attend college one day a week and attend their placement one day a week. Over the two years the students will complete 50 days in the hairdressing sector.
We believe that it is very important to ensure that any course is the correct one for a particular student group, in
- academic level;
- balance between academic and practical content;
- and the methods of assessment, to suit the students’ learning styles.
Each applicant is therefore required to complete an application form. Students will also be interviewed, to assess their commitment and interest in the vocational area (Hair).
Following this, students will have the opportunity to enrol on full time and part-time post-16 courses, for example, an NVQ level 1 or 2 in Hairdressing or Beauty Therapy. Students can also progress on to a vocational programme in another area or employment.
Students can progress into further education at college, 6th Form or employment.

- Effective communication
- Creativity & innovation
- ‘Can-do’ attitude
